Principal Message
Term one is fast coming to and end and the Easter Holidays are upon us!
Kia ora Whanau
This term has flown by and our tamariki have done a lot in the last nine weeks. Our seniors went on camp and had a great four days at Teapot Valley, and our juniors had their own week of education outside the classroom, even if it meant they could only go down to the local beach the following week.
Our whole school have been doing Kapa Haka every Wednesday, and I must say I have been very pleased with our tamariki's efforts. A number of our seniors have done Waka Ama on a Thursday. Rawhiti continues to go to bush school on Tuesdays. Our junior school are building their knowledge on structured literacy and are pleased with the gains they are seeing. They are also currently Swimming down at Plimmerton school.
In the classes, they have also done a lot of learning and you are all invited to have a walk-through on Thursday 6 April from 2:30 pm.
Local Curriculum
We successfully received 100 professional learning hours to develop our school's local curriculum. Sarah Hopkinson will support our school during this process and we look forward to working with her. Please see her message and diarise the community evening so you can be part of this exciting process.
Sport
Our year 7/8 students played Netball at the Mungavin Netball Courts in Porirua last Wednesday. When speaking to a few girls, it seemed they had a lot of fun and thoroughly enjoyed the day. I heard the students were just as good off the court. I want to thank the parents who transported and supported our students on the day. I also want to thank Nicolla Eagar for giving up time to run, coach and umpire on the day.
Unfortunately the year 5/6 netball was cancelled as a result of the weather.
The year 5-8 Swim sports is on the 5 April at Tawa pool. This will be a first for our school since I have been at Pukerua Bay and I'm looking forward to this event. We will have competitive races to identify our Parumoana athletes. We will have some fun non-competitive races for those students with less confidence in the water.
I wish you all a Happy Easter holiday and look forward to seeing you all back in Term 2.
