Wobbling at Amberley School
Nicky Lotz - June 26, 2019
We take lots of brain breaks, trips to the play ground and action songs in Maungatere Hub. We know that learning and cognition go hand in hand and that gross motor skills and core strength also support our students fine motor skills.
Last week we took delivery of two Wobble Boards that were kindly funded by our amazing FAST team (Parents Fun raising committee). These have been very popular with all of the children, especially those who find sitting still tricky! We have watched the children learn new skills and tricks, they are using their imaginations to use the boards in different ways and extend social skills by taking turns and helping each other to balance. We are already seeing the benefits of focus, and the strengthening of core muscles.

"Watch the child’s imagination take over once their Kinderboard arrives. It becomes a seesaw, a balance board, a slide, a step stool, a boat, a resting place, a doll bed, a puppet stage, a tunnel and many more opportunities for them to explore. The possibilities are endless—and truly up to them!"
Our parents have all been trying them out too!
If you are lucky enough to still have money in your classroom or syndicate budgets, I would highly recommend these for all year groups. They are a great resource and fun, fitness, imagination enhancing piece of equipment!
