Broomfield School Four Year Old Programme

Four Year Olds transitioning to school - developing a partnership between ECE, Whanau, New Entrant Teacher and Year 7&8 Buddy / Teacher

Why: Transitioning our youngest learners into our school.

What: At Broomfield School we invite our 4 year olds that are pre-enrolled to participate in a 6 month programme of introduction before they start school. At the same time our 5 year olds are in a buddy programme with their Year 7 & 8 buddies in senior class.

North Loburn School

A lunch box gifted to new students.

Why: We want children and families to feel valued as they come to North Loburn School. We like to introduce some of our Enviroschool Values as children start school.

What: New students are gifted a tupperware lunch box with a note introducing them and their family to ideas for litter-free school lunches.

How: This is sponsored by either our Home and School or a family in our community.

What:At Swannanoa Preschool we invite whānau to come in and sit down with their child’s key teacher to complete a ‘We are ready’ sheet - which consists of our 5 curriculum areas and looks at the child's strengths and aspirations - which will support a successful transition to school.

How: We do this collaboratively with the child's key teacher and whānau. This is shared with the school/new entrant teacher on their first school visit with their key teacher.
