"This is your Captain speaking!"

David Taylor —

We have just built a plane as we were flying. Don't ask me how, but I assure you we are now in the air.

 Good morning passengers .

The Puketaraki Kahui Ako flight is now in progress. We apologise for any inconvenience taking off. We have had some challenges balancing the plane, seating passengers and getting the cabin crew trained and ready for service. (Just joking with this line.)

I can now inform you we are climbing at a steady rate and are on track to reach our first milestone at the end of the year. (Reporting on achievement challenges.)

Unfortunately due to the high number of passengers, with considerable luggage (not baggage) our acceleration rate has been slower than expected. (Something called tail drag.)

So from here on relax, socialise and get to know your cabin crew. They have just had a well deserved pay rise and should be willing to collaborate in any number of ways.  We expect to be flying together for some time.

PS As you recline back in your seats, organising your in-flight entertainment,  there will be a minor change in the cockpit.  Captain Marsh  will soon assume controls. You may experience some turbulence, some light fog and  a smattering low hanging clouds. We expect this to clear quickly. However as a precaution keep your seat belt on until further instructions.
