Belfast School Dux 2018

Sue Elley —

Luke Burling, Deputy Head Boy, is this year's Dux.

Luke has shown maturity and been a responsible, respected senior leader in the school this year. As a prefect he has been a positive role model to his peers demonstrating our school values consistently.  Luke successfully combined  his prefect duties with his academic learning  throughout the year achieving well in all curriculum areas.   Luke's  great sense of humour enables him to interact confidently and respectfully with his peers and adults.

He has carried out tasks such as managing technology for presentations at our school assemblies and worked collaboratively  with  Head Boy Boyd Johnson  to make a video promoting our school values. Luke represented our school well at events like the Koru Games and Winter Sport Tournaments.  He was the recipient of the Curragh Speech Shield and earned second  in the local Rotary Speech Competitions.  

Luke has shown  great initiative, was always positive in his manner and never hesitated to take on tasks or give support.   Luke demonstrated a growth mindset. He coped with challenges, showed resilience and wass undaunted by new opportunities.  These attributes enable him to enjoy life and learning.
