New Hall for Belfast School

Sue Elley —

A brand-new multi-purpose hall is on its way for Belfast School

The Ministry of Education has confirmed a new multi-purpose hall will be built to replace the existing hall at Belfast School. Construction is scheduled to begin this year in Term 4 and be completed in Term 3 2024.

This announcement is very exciting for our akōnga/ learners, kaimahi / staff, and wider school community. We know our ākonga will be filled with pride when they see the multi-purpose hall finished and ready for use.

As demolition works and subsequent building of the hall commences, we will continue to keep our school community updated. Keep an eye on our school newsletters later in the year for pictures!

As you will be aware, there is quite a bit of redevelopment and improvement work planned for Belfast School this year. We are working with the Ministry and the appointed contractor around health and safety planning to ensure that disruption to the operations on this site is minimized.

The demolition of the old hall will mean an alternative venue for our end-of-year prizegiving hui will be needed. We will update you later in the year with details about where this year’s hui will be held.
