A Career in Maths?

Penny Kershaw —

Maths may not be everyone’s favourite subject, but we use maths in some way in just about every job, so it is a great subject to do even if you might not want to work in a specific maths related career.

Here are just a few jobs which maths could lead you to:

Accountant | Acoustic Sound Engineer | Actuary | Aeronautical Engineer | Algorithm Engineer | Astronomer | Banker| Business Analyst | Cryptographer | Data Scientist | Economist | Mathematician | Maths Professor or Teacher | Medicine and Health Research | Meteorologist | Physicist | Quantitative Analyst | Quantity Surveyor | Research Analyst | Robotics Engineer | Space Research | Statistician | Systems Analyst

You can find information about most of these careers on careers.govt.nz

To get a snapshot of currently advertised jobs in a particular field, you can search by subject on seek.co.nz, for example https://www.seek.co.nz/mathematics-jobs. Click on some of the jobs and find out about them, it might help you get an idea of some areas of interest.
