Year 9 Activity Week

Liz Koni —

The Year 9 students had an awesome week last week taking part in a wide range of activities for the annual Year 9 activity week.

Monday was spent learning traditional tikanga Maori games and the girls were lucky to have the expertise of Whaea Cherie and the senior Maori students leading them for the day. Tuesday was the Wearable Arts Challenge, with students bidding for a range of items to then create a runway-worthy masterpiece! Wednesday saw the girls in their form class groups for the day rotating around art, cooking, zumba and yoga for the day. Thursday was the much anticipated beach day and it was a Dunner stunner to walk down to the beach, complete the photo scavenger hunt, the sand castle competition and finish with a swim at the St Clair Saltwater Pool. To finish the week on Friday the girls completed Mr Clark's tower challenge and relaxed with a movie in the afternoon. Overall the students had a great time and it was a great way to spend the week before school finishes up!
