Students are busy creating recycled denim projects at Year 10 and the Seniors are working on designing and producing their own garments.

Year 10

Students have managed to get their Recycled Denim Project well underway.  This project enables the students to follow the complete design process. They start with designing an item of their choice, getting feedback from a stakeholder and making the pattern. They then make a sample, before producing their final item. The emphasis is on time management and the quality of the work produced. The girls have done exceptionally well.

The photos show students working on their Recycled Denim. Zoe and Alice are pulling apart old jeans ready to be reshaped into a shoulder bag, a new pair of shorts with cuffs and new pockets. Aria is working on her rag quilt layout.

Year 11 and 12

Senior students have been a little more challenged as lock down interrupted the start of their practical work. They have since thrown themselves into their work, altering patterns and making toiles. Year 12 students have been trialling design features from pocket shapes to new cuff and hem designs. The next step is to make samples of their garments, ready for the beginning of next term, where they will make their garments a reality.
