Nicole Rogers —

2020 has been a successful year so far for Hip Hop at Queen’s. All three crews competed in the Otago/Southland NZ Schools competition which was held last Friday in Invercargill at Stadium Southland.

All crews competed strongly, and represented their school with pride. In the High School Small Crew category “Audacity” coached and choreographed by senior students Tiara Nafatali and Ona Fraser, received 1st Place and “Royalty” coached and choreographed by junior students Lucy Grant and Martha McAuley, received 3rd Place.

In the High School Mini Crew category “Ignite” coached, choreographed and performed by Year 9 students Gracie Ruri and Anika Strange, received 1st place and the trophy for highest scoring high school crew. All crews have now qualified for Nationals in Wellington.

Queens’ also had students represent RASA school of dance at the same competition in different categories. Tiara, Lucy and Martha competed with “Allies” winning 1st place. Anika competed with “DFYNT” placing 3rd and Gracie competed with “Diamond” placing 1st. Lucy and Martha also competed as a duo placing 2nd in that category.

A big thank you to our coaches, parents and supporters who help the girls pursue their passion.

Keep dancing!
