Ex-Girl Mentoring Programme

EquipMENT End of year celebration

The end of year celebration of the Queen’s High School EquipMENT mentoring programme was held in the Library on Thursday evening. Not all students and mentors who took part in the programme this year were able to attend, but we had an enjoyable evening at which parents and ex-girls renewed links, and old connections were rediscovered.

During the evening, Endocrinologist and Ex-girl Victoria Stott spoke to the group and shared her experiences of workplace mentoring and of how being flexible and adaptable had enabled her to engineer a working life that enables her to live the life she wants to lead.

This year - 2020 being the year it has been - saw the Mentoring sessions starting on-line in many cases, before moving on to involving face-to-face meetings as the year progressed. We also have two out-of-town mentors who have conducted most of their sessions by distance, though both these Mentors have made time to visit their students when they have been in Dunedin.

We are very grateful for the commitment and willingness to help exhibited by our ex-girls - both the Mentors and the women who are on the organising committee for the programme. The girls have again found the connections and support provided by their mentors to be very beneficial.
