Senior School Examinations

Queen's High School —

The Senior School Examinations are Week 9 this term Monday 14th - Friday 18th September. Read on for more information.

Attached is a copy of the Senior School Examination timetable and instructions. Please be aware, when your exams are, what to bring and the time you have to be there.

The purpose of these examinations is to give the students the opportunity to attempt the externally assessed standards they are enrolled in under examination conditions. Those who do not have externally assessed standards will instead have time for completing practical or internal assessment work.

Students are expected to attend every session on their examination timetable in full school uniform. Examination sessions run for either three hours in the morning or two hours in the afternoon. This is to ensure that we have sufficient evidence incase a student requires a derived grade because they miss any formal NZQA examination at the end of the year due to misadventure, injury or bereavement.

Mirroring the process that happens at the end of the year, exam rooms will be posted in the main foyer. We recommend students turn up at least 20 minutes before the examination to ensure that they are in the right place at the right time as they may not always be in the usual classroom.

The students have study leave which means that when they do not have an examination in the morning or afternoon they can use the time at home to study. If this is not possible (for example transportation issues) we will have space available at school for them to study in the information centre should they need somewhere to wait before or after an examination.

If students are sitting a digital exam, they need to ensure their devices are charged to last the full time and they will need to know which platform the exam will be running in. Their teachers will discuss this prior to the examinations. Students who are sitting NZQA digital practise examinations (Yr11-13 English and Yr11-13 Māori) can go to the following website to look at what a digital exam looks like on this platform.
