Te Reo, Hip hop and Shakespeare workshop

Ruby Costa —

On Friday the 10th of May a group of 35 Queen's girls went to listen to Kingslee McLean Daley, better known as Akala, speak.

Akala is a British Jamaican rapper, journalist, author, vegan political activist and poet. During his talk, he spoke about Shakespearean poetry and its association with modern day hip hop. The students enjoyed his talk and thought his accent was funny. Akala was super engaging, using different speech techniques to involve the audience. He also performed his super fast rap that referenced 27 different plays by Shakespeare.
