Reporting Information for 2024

Queen's High School —

We are continuing with ‘live reporting’ through the Parent Portal as our primary means of reporting on student progress. The rationale for this is that it is a more current and immediate way to report on student achievement. It also allows teachers to report more specifically on different areas of the curriculum as well as report more clearly on progress towards certain assessments. Comments will be brief and provide specific feedback linked to either Achievement Standards (in the senior school), curriculum objectives and/or learning for the term (in the junior school). The comments might be more informal than traditional reports.

The nature of this type of reporting means that each Learning Area decides when it is most timely to update whānau on progress. Comments will be dated, so you will be able to see when a teacher has commented on an area of the curriculum. You can expect one comment per term for each of your child's classes.

We will still be providing the fortnightly Progress Reports for all students. The first Progress Report for the year will be emailed on Friday 1 March.  In these reports you will find two numbers, one for Learning and one for Behaviour. The descriptors for these can be found at the bottom of the Progress Reports.

The school will send out reminders each term to check the Parent Portal. Whānau without internet access are to contact the school to gain access to your child's information.

There will continue to be opportunities to meet with teachers face-to-face. The first is scheduled for Thursday 21 March. You will receive further information about these interviews closer to the time.

What this means for whānau:

- All reports will be accessed through the Parent Portal.

- You will need to check the Parent Portal every 3-4 weeks for new comments.

- It would also be a good time to check we have your current email address.

- You can of course contact us at any time during the year to discuss any matters relating to your child’s progress at school.

Information regarding how to log onto the Parent Portal has been emailed home previously and later this term we will send you a reminder to go into the Parent Portal to access comments on your child’s achievement this year.
