All Year 9 classes enjoy an Education Outside the Classroom experience.

Kia ora koutou

This week, the Year 9 classes have been on an overnight camp with their Year 13 Associates and students from the Year 12 Physical Education class. These students have been running activities that are part of the Level 2 Achievement Standard, ‘Evaluate leadership strategies that contribute to the effective functioning of a group’. The reports back from the staff involved in the camps have all been the same, the senior students have been fantastic leaders and role models: they have all been enthusiastic, well organised and inclusive. To all of the students involved, thank you for your contribution to the success of these camps and well done.

Senior students will all be sitting assessments within their classes or have assessments due to be handed in over the upcoming weeks. To support our focus on achievement, please check with your daughter that she is on track for completion of any assessments due over the upcoming weeks and encourage her to speak to her teacher if there is any query or issue.

This issue includes a link to an article for parents on keeping students safe on social media. As more and more of our life is online it is important that our young women know how to be safe online.  All junior classes took part in the Tackling Technology workshop this week, which gave clear messages on how to use technology safely, wisely and appropriately. In the section for parents, within the Netsafe website, there is a number of great articles on topics such as Screen Time and Instagram. There is also the facility for you to report online incidents and they do follow up everything that is reported.

To all of our sportswomen taking part in the Otago Secondary School Volleyball Tournament this weekend, good luck.
