The Queen’s High School Enviro group have started a new initiative called ‘Adopt a plant’.

This plan is an example of sustainability because the seedlings come from an existing Kowhai tree that drops seedpods. The seedlings are then harvested and put into pots to be sold for a gold coin donation. The funds go back into buying pots and potting mix making the cycle sustainable. Students take the seedlings home and care for them prior to planting at their property. The first day of our programme ended with 25 seedlings heading out into the community. We are currently growing more and have a back order to fill. If you are interested in adopting a plant come to A7 next Thursday 25 June or let Mr Sherborne know.
