International Languages Week 17-23 June

Noeline Burden —

It was great to hear students making an effort to greet others around school in a wide variety of languages during International Languages Week.

Form classes participated in a “ I Love Languages” competition where they had to identify the 22 languages and many of us were fascinated by the artistic appearance of our names written in Arabic or Mandarin. “Félicitations” to 13NIC, 10BIS and 9SPE who were the top 3 classes in the interform competition and “Danke schön” to these girls for having the courage to address us in assembly in their mother tongue: Rahaf Almabaid, Kirstie Acero, Hannah Than, Damaris Dumitrean, Shanice Stockenstroom, Frauke Haase, Jannah Biado and Annika Abele.

Congratulations to the following girls who were awarded certificates in assembly for the Education Perfect Global Languages Championships: Billie Allan (Silver); Abby Elkins-Fitzgerald, Tessa Conijn, Caitlyn Petrie, Mikayla Preston (all Bronze); Elly Bulger-Patrick, Ella Marshall, Sarah Newton, Lucy Hayward (all Credit).

French Fashion

Oh là là!! French designers, who are currently being researched by Year 10 students, would be dismayed by the fashion sense witnessed when these same girls dressed up for a French speaking assessment last week. The girls were to be commended on their creativity, enthusiasm and most importantly their pronunciation.
