Girl Boss Leadership Day

Billie Allan, Caitlyn Petrie, Sarah Newton,Tessa Conjin —

Recently some Year 9 and 10 students attended a leadership workshop called Girl Boss.

On Tuesday 12 February a group of about 10 Year 9 and 10 students were selected to attend a leadership workshop called ‘Girl Boss’. The guest speaker was GirlBoss NZ Founder, Alexia Hilbertidou, who ran workshops throughout the day. During the day we learnt about how there is a significantly smaller number of girls taking the lead in world politics today. Alexia also talked about how girls were underappreciated in many different areas such as jobs, being CEO’s, images online and so much more.

We then learnt about all of these amazing, young girls who were out there changing the world in many ways such as fundraising for kid’s uniforms, or getting rid of plastic bags in Bali,  and they are doing all these things to make the world a better place. Everyone who went can easily agree they really enjoyed the whole experience, we are all inspired to make change in the world. We would like to say a big thanks to everyone who made it possible and watch this space.
