Awesome Alexandra Camp

Samantha Meikle —

Last Tuesday myself and 14 other students were lucky enough to attend the Year 10 Central Otago camp and we had a blast.

Over the four days at camp we participated in a range of activities. On the first day we went for a walk through Gabriel's Gully. Then soon after we arrived in Alexandra and went to “The Orchard Garden'' where we completed a maze which required teamwork and focus skills.

On Wednesday morning we went to Clyde to pick up our bikes from “Bike it now!” and biked on the Otago Central Rail Trail from Clyde to Alexandra then back to our accommodation at Alexandra Holiday Park. After lunch we travelled to Cromwell to cool off at the new “Kiwi Water Park '' where we had the best time jumping, swimming, running and falling over on the equipment around the park with our friends and teachers.

On Thursday it was time for another bike ride.We biked on the Riverside Track. This track has such a beautiful view which made it so much more enjoyable. In the afternoon we went for a swim in the lake and a biscuit ride which was just what we needed. Thursday night we went to Miss Earland’s holiday house to watch a movie which was the most relaxing part of the camp. Friday morning we had to pack up everything, then we went for a walk to “Alexandra’s clock on the Hill”.

On behalf of the Central Otago Camp students, we would like to say a big Thank You to Miss Earland, Ms Ellis, Mrs Lowther and Mrs Rogers, we really appreciate all the help and effort you put into making this camp entertaining and a special memory for all of us, we couldn't have done it without you.
