Dunedin to Tokyo

This week, Queen’s High School hosted a Panel Discussion ‘Dunedin to Tokyo. Students from secondary schools in Dunedin were fortunate enough to hear first-hand advice from Holly Robinson and Anna Grimaldi, Paralympic Gold Medallists. Holly and Anna provided an inspiring insight into their respective sporting journey, which was followed by a question-and-answer session. Some great messages were conveyed to the students. We acknowledge Sport Otago for this awesome opportunity, which a group of our junior students attended.

Summer Sport

We have had plenty of physical activity this term - on the field, in the pool, and on the court. Aside from the weekly sporting competition, the Queen’s 10A Volleyball Team played in an Invitational Tournament last Saturday. The tournament comprised of teams from Aoraki, Otago, Queenstown, and Southland, with Queen’s finishing an admirable fourth overall.

Sports and Cultural Awards

Despite not being able to have this years event at the Queen’s and King’s Performing Arts Centre, it was still a wonderful celebration of the talent we have at school. I am aware that many coaches had difficulty selecting recipients for sports awards, with the ability and dedication displayed by many of their team members. Congratulations to the students who received awards.

Friendly Reminder

There is an expectation that when a student registers to play sport they commit to the team, and also attend team practices. Coaches are volunteers and give up their time to support Queen’s students, of which we are extremely grateful.

If a student is off school unwell, they are not permitted to play sport that day.

Due to COVID restrictions at some sports venues spectators are not permitted to go and watch. Please ensure that your daughter only attends sports games if she is playing, umpiring or coaching.
