Ōtepoti Rangatahi Business Challenge

Jo Bishop-Cherry —

Seventeen Year 10 students spent three days immersed in the world of business. The Otago Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES), hosted the event at the University of Otago’s Business School this week.

The course encourages young people to learn about business and enterprise. The pupils looked at real-world business cases and were put into groups to create business ideas that were then presented to a panel of local business people.

During the programme the students developed work-ready skills through a series of business-related activities and connecting with local Maori entrepreneurs.

All the students did an amazing job and did themselves and the school proud. The winning concept was Biodegradable Party Boxes from Summer, Allie, Georgia, Annabel, Jamila, and Madi.

Well done to you all on your effort and enthusiasm over the past three days.
