PE Dept —

It has been busy in the PE dept with the recent annual Year 13 Duathlon and the Year 12 Recreation Studies snorkeling unit.

Year 13 PE students recently took part in a Duathlon assessment. The girls biked and ran around a course out on the streets around the school. The course involved a 2.5km run, 10 km bike and 2.5km run. It  was great to see all the girls give it a go and improve their fitness levels. It was particularly great to see those students who had trained so had from the start of the year and improve their grades.

The Year 12 Recreation students have had the opportunity to partake in a Snorkeling unit. A lot of fun was had practising the new skills at the St Clair Hot Salt Water Pool and the Dunedin harbour. The harbour sessions had us trudging through mud, investigating the sea life and retrieving stuck flippers. The final day saw us snorkeling at Aramoana Beach. All the students enjoyed their experience, overcome fears and managed to see Blue Moki, Krill and Sea Tulips.

A very special thanks to Emma at Dive Otago, Mrs Finnie and Josh for accompanying us on our maiden voyage.
