Jacqui Earland —

Friday night Volleyball concluded last week, with Queen's achieving some excellent results for the term.

The 10A and 10B both won their divisions; Div 1 and 2 respectively. The 9A team was placed 3rd in Div 2. A big thank you to all the senior student coaches and all the junior players for all their dedication and reliability throughout the term. Nine teams are a lot to manage!

Tournament Report - Written by the players

This week the Year 9A and 10A volleyball teams went to Invercargill to play in the South Island Volleyball Tournament. This experience was like no other; filled with action, fun, excitement, as well as a few disappointments. The Year 10s won 4 of their 8 games. We tried our best but we did not succeed. Even with Terry’s blood, sweat and tears, we still couldn’t manage to get in the top 12. Luckily, we had many pick me ups including Maccas (shhhhh don’t tell Terry). We also met some farm animals in the Queen’s Gardens and enjoyed the playground equipment, especially the hamster wheel. Watch this link to see Milli’s skills on this; (https://youtu.be/LlKtzdf215s).  The Year 9 team had similar results, winning 4 of their 8 matches, with a nail biting game that went to 32 points. They had some great dance parties and decorated the entire kitchen in celebration of Pearl’s birthday. Highlights include Kmart shopping, the beautiful sunny Southland weather and lots of laughter.

A big thank you to Terry, Zoe and Cheyenne for coaching us, and to Miss Earland and Ms Meronek for giving up their time and energy to ensure that we got to this tournament. Bring on Nelson in 2021!
