Remarkable Rowing Season
Ella Nesbit & Ella Edwards have written a few words about their 2021-2022 Rowing season.
In the photo above we are holding the trophy we have won... "The North End crew of the year award". This is awarded to a group of rowers at the club that put in the hard work and the time and get the best results across all of the the regattas for the club.
Across the season we came 2nd at the South Island Secondary Schools regatta in the girls U17 pair and brought Queen’s home a silver medal. Our best result over the season was winning the intermediate womens eight at the rowing club nationals where we combined with Dunstan and Wakatipu Girls.
Some of our other achievements included making the A final at nationals with 50 other boats in the category, making us top eight in the country for the women's intermediate double. We also combined with the Dunstan Girls again to make up an intermediate quad and came a devastating 4th place, missing out on a national bronze by 0.1 of a second. We also attended our first Maadi Cup and were able to come 1st in the B final for the U17 pair with a personal best.
The 21/22 season was a difficult one, especially with covid but we pushed through and made it all worth it. We have enjoyed rowing with the other girls at Queen's and we hope to see some new faces join the rowing team with us next season.
