Principal's Address

Kia ora koutou katoa

Last week, 44 students were awarded their Young Scholar Badge at a function hosted by the Board of Trustees. To be a Young Scholar, a student needs to achieve a grade point average of at least 80% in their respective NCEA Level from the previous year. A student’s grade point average is calculated on their top 80 credits. If a student receives 80 or more excellence credits, they have a grade point average of 100% - the best possible result. To gain this award is no easy task. It takes hard work, commitment, determination and perseverance. Last year was possibly even more difficult than usual, with learning from home for an extended period. My congratulations to all the students who received this award. (see photo above and below).

I would also like to remind everyone that reporting is now accessed through the Parent Portal. This is our primary means of reporting on student progress. Comments will be brief and provide specific feedback linked to either Achievement Standards (in the senior school), curriculum objectives and/or learning for the term (in the junior school). The comments might be more informal than traditional reports. Reminder information on how to access the Parent Portal will be emailed out next week. All students can see the same information via their Student Portal and we will remind them next week on how to view their comments and results.

To our sportswomen taking part in the South Island Secondary Schools' Athletic Championships, the Year 10 Volleyball final, the Waterpolo semi final and the Basketball tournament this weekend, good luck.

As this is our last edition for the term I will take the opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy holiday.
