Kia ora koutou katoa

Our celebration of Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori – Māori Language Week with our ākonga (students) and kaimahi (staff) this year saw classes involved in separate Māori moments. Tō tātou Wā Tuku Reo Māori. This year we had to do things differently, see above for the video with some of the activities involving ākonga (students) and kaimahi (staff) within their class.

The week had the theme ‘Kia Kaha te Reo Māori - Let's make the Māori language strong’ which is about encouraging us all to speak te reo, ahakoa te iti (no matter how little) me kōrero (we should speak it).  Patua te whakamā – don’t be afraid to give it a go.

With just over three weeks of classes remaining for all senior students, the focus is now on all students achieving their academic success. Many courses for 2022 are dependent on positive examination results. The senior school examinations, being held in Week 1 of next term, are even more important than usual as in these uncertain times these grades may determine their end of year results. For all students, the key to gaining your best results is being well prepared. Make time to study, practice on past papers, use summary diagrams like mind maps, drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep are some top examination preparation tips. Also, don’t forget that you can ask your teacher for help at any time.

The celebrations of students’ success for 2021 start with the Sport and Cultural Awards night on Tuesday 2 November and then Senior Academic Prizegiving on Thursday 11 November. These events are being held in the Queen’s and King’s Performing Arts Centre. Junior Prizegiving will be in the Queen’s High School hall, on the morning of Tuesday 14 December.
