Interact Summary so far

Lesley Signal-Cambridge —

The Interact group has been very busy so far this year raising money for many good causes.

Kiva Micro-Finance Loans

The Queen’s High School Interact club continues to support women across the world by supporting the KIVA programme, and investing in small enterprises. This photo is of Tam, from Vietnam, who we have just heard has fully repaid her loan - in which our club had invested. She used the loan to buy livestock, which she raised and sold, and was then able to use the income to improve the living circumstances of her family. Over the past three years the club has made 26 loans totaling $650 to women in 19 countries, many of which have already been repaid and the capital has been reinvested. We know that if you support the women and mothers in a community, the whole community benefits.

Relay for Life

The girls completed their final fundraiser for Relay for Life this year, by cleaning staff cars. They have worked hard over many lunchtimes to achieve a really impressive fundraising total. It has been a busy and focussed term for the girls who have been displaying a real ethic of service to their community.

Greatest Lunch in the World

Today our Interact group planned the ‘Greatest Lunch in the World’ and organised an International Food Court to raise money for eradicating polio. They sold poutine, churros, spring rolls, dumplings, and sushi. It was very popular!
