Sporting Success

Basketball

Congratulations to Elise Carline, Year 12, on her selection in the Junior Tall Ferns Squad for the FIBA Under 17 Oceania Championships to be held in Papua New Guinea in October. This is an incredible accomplishment and an absolute credit to her. Elise’s dedication and passion for basketball is immense and we know she will represent her country with such pride. She is presently competing for Otago at the Basketball New Zealand Under 23 Championships in Auckland.

Netball

Congratulations to our three students, Renee Geddes and Grace Le Brun (A Team) and Eve Kelleher (B Team), who represented Dunedin Netball Under 14 Representative Teams in Invercargill last Sunday. The A Team won two from four games and the B Team was victorious in all four games. Good luck for the tournament in Dunedin this weekend.

Winter Sport Competition

Football

Division one Secondary School Football Champions – Queen’s 1st XI defeated Otago Girls’ High School 1st XI, two goals to one in a toughly fought final last Thursday. We are so proud of the team’s achievement and unwavering spirit. Thank you to Rob Bray, Coach, and Ms Mackay-Wright, Assistant Coach, for their dedication to the team throughout the season. To our 2nd XI Football Team, congratulations on making the final of Division two. You were defeated by a strong Bayfield High School Team, but your improvement has been immense. To get this far is a credit to you as players, along with Dan Worthington, Coach and Ms Abbott, Manager.

Summer Sport Registrations

Students and parents/caregivers received an email earlier this week regarding registering to play summer sport. The Google form stipulates that students must be able to attend both practices and games when considering signing up and that they agree to having discussed with their legal guardian the sports they are committing to. Any outstanding Sports Fees must be paid for a student to be eligible to play sport in Term 4. Registrations strictly close on Friday 1 September.
