Spelling Bee

Viv Smith —

The English Department finished off the year with a hiss and a roar (well, perhaps more of a hum and a buzz) with our annual Year 9 Spelling Bee Competition on Monday morning.

Our students have been building up to this for more than two terms, learning spelling words, finding out the roots of words to help with spelling, and discovering the roles words play in sentences. On Monday, a large group of our most courageous girls went head-to-head, needing sixteen rounds to find the winner. This was a fantastic effort and achievement by all our participants, and we are very proud of them all.

Maia Scott (9GEI) was crowned our ‘Queen of the Bee’ for 2022, followed very closely by runner-up Heidi Brook (9CHA), with Danike Teitge (9CHA) in 3rd place. Congratulations, girls!
