Apollo Projects Funding
Queen’s High School is excited to announce that we have partnered with Apollo Projects again for 2025. After a successful year of supporting students in 2024, this partnership is to provide more students with the opportunity to participate in sports by making funding more accessible. The Apollo Projects funding would help students pay for fees, tournament costs, equipment such as boots and shin pads, sport related travel, and other sporting costs.
To be eligible to access the Apollo Projects funding, students must meet the following criteria:
The funding goes to students who would otherwise miss out. There is a demonstrable need (e.g., disadvantaged circumstances) or financial barrier to participation in sport.
The individual shows positive interest, ability, or potential in their sport.
Funding would assist in potentially providing a better long-term outcome for that student in sport and life.
To access the Apollo Projects funding, we ask that students and their parents/caregivers/whānau please fill out the following form by clicking HERE. Students can apply for up to $500 per annum. There is a limited amount of funding available and will be distributed via a selection panel.
Last year student Annie Tocher received funding from Apollo Projects to support her rowing. Annie is a keen and competitive rower, with dreams of representing New Zealand one day! Here is what Annie had to say about Apollo Projects and the support that it provided her to continue rowing:
"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the funding from the Apollo Project. This contribution has made a real difference in helping me continue with my rowing, and I truly appreciate it. easing some of the financial strain that comes with being in a sport that can get pretty expensive. Rowing requires a lot of gear, travel, and coaching, so having this support has helped my family out a lot, and it’s one less thing to worry about. I’ve been rowing for a while now, and it’s become a big part of my life. I really enjoy the challenge and the teamwork, and I’m always excited to get out on the water. The funding allows me to focus more on improving my skills and pushing myself further in the sport. Once again, thank you for your support. It really means a lot to me, and I’m grateful for your belief in what I’m doing."
- Annie Tocher (Year 11)

Sports Photos
We are currently looking for any parents or students who currently have high quality photos of our sports teams and individuals representing Queen’s High School in Queen’s uniform. If you have permission to share these photos, please email them to sport@queens.school.nz. These photos will be used for advertising, social media and on display at the Sport Expo at Queen’s High School Open Night. If you would like photo credit, please let Tessa know when emailing in your photos.
Sports Uniform Reminder
A reminder that all students playing sport for Queen’s must only be wearing Queen’s High School uniform to all games. Students are not to be wearing home clothes while representing Queen’s in sporting events and games. If students are coming to support their friends at sporting events in school uniform, they are expected to be wearing their school uniform in the same way they are required to wear it during a normal school day.
Netball players must wear white ankle socks, while hockey, rugby and football are required to wear red sports socks.
If you are looking to see what uniform you can wear to sport events, look at our fabulous Year 9B netball team all coordinating to wear the same uniform - this is the standard we are striving for!
