Quoi de Neuf?

Noeline Burden —

What’s new in French?

We are very pleased to welcome Solѐne de Cornulier-Luciniѐre to Queen’s. She is our French assistante for 2019. We are sharing her with two other Dunedin schools but already the girls are benefiting from having a ‘real’ French person in the classroom and we look forward to seeing her again in week 9.

A group of students with an interest in different cultures and languages are meeting on Wednesday lunchtimes. The focus to begin with is mostly French and we plan to play games, watch some movies, eat, discuss and become more aware of cultural differences and similarities. At our first meeting we looked at clichés of both French people and Kiwis. Others are welcome to join our lunchtime French Club. Keep an eye on the daily notices.

The French Film Festival has a good variety of movies which will be shown at Reading between March 14 and March 27. French students from Years 10-13 are going to see Un Peuple et son Roi on Monday March 18 but there are hopefully others who will see Asterix on Saturday March 16 and/or Two is a Family on March 17 or  March 23.
