Careers Speed Meet

Abby Newell (Year 10) —

Last Thursday, the Year 10's piled into two buses and went to the Town Hall to hear about different career options.

We all sat down in groups of about eight and met different career "role models". They told us about what their jobs involved and how they got into their careers. We took notes and listened to their advice. There were a variety of different options, from gardeners to chefs, radio station staff, electricians, joiners, musicians and many more.

It was really interesting and I really enjoyed hearing about all the different career options and the pros & cons of each path.

One of the speakers that I found most interesting was a film composer called Josh Ryan. He told us about how he followed his passion, and he now works in Hollywood. He writes music for movie trailers, and has worked with really cool people.

Overall it was a really great experience and I really enjoyed it.
