Congratulations to Aliyah Christos and Brianna Reid who recently represented New Zealand in the Under 18 Ice Hockey team in Abu Dhabi over the holidays. Attached is an article written by Brianna Reid.

Over the last week of Term 1 and the first week of the school holidays, Aliyah Christos and I were in Abu Dhabi (the capital of the United Arab Emirates) representing New Zealand in a Senior Women's International Ice Hockey tournament, in which we placed 4th overall in the tournament, narrowly missing out on a silver medal in our last game. 

While we were there, we rode camels, did a little shopping and went on a tour around the Grand Sheik Zayed Mosque, one of the most famous mosques in the world. 

A highlight for me was staying in the hotel with all of the other teams and getting to know them as acquaintances over a game of pool, dinner, or just in the lobby before an outing. For me, the whole thing will definitely be an experience I remember for a very long time. 

As for Aliyah, her most memorable moment was just being on the ice with the team and just having fun doing what she enjoys the most. 

It was a really good experience and I would recommend anyone taking any opportunity like this because you make some really good friends and get to have some really amazing experiences.
