The Queen's Writing Group was well represented in the recent Dunedin Secondary Schools Poetry Competition. Special congratulations go to two of our writers who were awarded places. Ella McBride gained second place for her poem 'Candy Floss Skies'. Jessie Avison was awarded third place for 'Book Fish'.

The Queen's Writing Group was well represented in the recent Dunedin Secondary Schools Poetry Competition. The girls worked hard to pen their poems, taking time to craft and edit them. Special congratulations go to two of our writers who were awarded places. Ella McBride gained second place for her poem 'Candy Floss Skies'. Jessie Avison was awarded third place for 'Book Fish'. The judge commended the girls for the strength of their entries amongst a competitive pool of writing. We were delighted to have Sue Wootton, one of New Zealand's most highly esteemed poets, award the girls their prizes in a recent assembly. Sue commented on the quality of their work and reminded the assembly of the power of words in our world today.
