This week the Year 10 Science students travelled to Smaills Beach Reserve to collect native seeds as part of our partnership with BeachCare Trust. Students collected seeds from ngaio, harakeke, kōhūhū, tī kōuka and toetoe. The students will use these seeds to experiment with germination conditions and ultimately grow the seedlings into mature plants to be used for riparian planting at Tomahawk Lagoon. A huge thanks goes out to Nicole and Rewa from BeachCare trust for their time and expertise.
