GrowingNZ Innovation Challenge

Lydia Butler —

On Wednesday 28th August ten Year 10 students attended the growing NZ innovation challenge.

A workshop designed to encourage young people to get into the primary sector. We were split into groups and mixed with other schools. We received a challenge with a problem we had to solve. We had to brainstorm ideas, make prototypes and pitch our solution to a judge. Although unfortunately no teams with Queen's pupils won, several teams with members from Queen's won teamwork awards. We learnt a lot about the different jobs in the primary sector and the kind of problems they have to solve. Overall it was a very fun and educational experience.
