NZCAF Otago Aerobics
The Queen's High Aerobics team had a successful result at the NZCAF Otago Aerobics Championships held in Dunedin last weekend.
Queen's had twelve athletes competing over two days. As well as competing, several of the QHS competitors were coaching children from primary and intermediate schools as part of our Aerobics Community Coaching Programme.
At prizegiving, we came away with two trophies. The QHS team won the highest scoring school trophy with the most 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the competition. Brooke Wilson was awarded the trophy for the highest aerobic score. She and Georgia Wilson placed 3rd in the Open Teams section - a tough category. Brooke also placed 1st in the Junior Open Individual category and Georgia was second.
Four competitors were in the Pre-choreographed Individual category which was the biggest section in the competition and required three rounds. All of these athletes (Lucy Linwood, Marie West, Kaylee Smith, Isla Ludgate and Ruby Hamilton) made it to the semi finals. Kaylee and Isla qualified for finals and were placed second and third respectively. Kaylee, Marie and Lucy placed 1st in the Pre-choreographed Team section.
Lily Hoffman was 3rd as a Novice Individual and Annabelle Ludgate was 2nd in the Open Novice category. In the Senior Open individual grade, Saige Evans was 3rd and Micaela Sumner 2nd. Annabel and Micaela were 4th in the Open Team section.
All finalists qualified for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Aerobics Championshios to be held in Wellington on September 16-17.
