All library books need to be returned by 28 November 2025.

Please ensure that all library and English Department novel study books are returned by Friday 28 November. Books not returned by this date will be considered lost and school accounts will be charged for a replacement.

If your daughter wants to continue borrowing books for over the holidays plesae encourage them to sign up for a summer book bag.

A number of international studies have shown that some students suffer from a drop in their reading abilities over the summer holidays. Because they are away from school for an extended period, they spend less time on reading and miss out on access to books, reading practice, support and encouragement to read, and role modelling from others around them.

What can we do to help?
Over the summer holidays, the QHS Library runs a summer reading programme. Students fill in a form and in their last week of school take home a selection of books that either they select themselves or are hand-picked with their individual interests and reading history in mind. We hope that this will give girls improved access to books that appeal specifically to them, encourage them to read more than they might have done otherwise, and help to prevent a decline in their reading ability over the summer break.
We require students who wish to receive a book bag to fill in an application form and return it by Friday 28th November.  They can pick up a form from the library or fill it in here.

Summer books need to returned on their first day back of the 2026 school year.
