Football

Southland Girls’ High School kindly invited Queen’s High School 1st XI Football Team to play an interschool game against them last week. Our team produced a strong first half performance on the Caledonian Ground, to have a decent half-time lead. The game was great preparation for winter tournament week where the team have been this week and the 7-0 victory, a good confidence booster for the players.

Winter Tournament Week

Football

The 1st XI Football team travelled to Timaru to compete in the Lotto Sportswear Tournament. After finishing top of their pool, the team crossed over in the quarter finals to play Marian College. A 14-0 win secured a semi-final place against Columba College. The team was defeated 1-0 in a tightly fought game. They put the disappointment behind them and were triumphant in the playoff for the bronze medal, defeating local heroes, Timaru Girls’ High School. Maia Scott was named the team’s Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Well done to all the players and a huge thank you to Rob Bray and Miss Mackay-Wright, Coaches and Ms Abbott, Manager.
