Students’ Success
Rugby League
Well done to the Queen's students who recently represented Otago in Rugby League at a tournament in Christchurch - Ella Nesbit, Daisy Mahi, Rivah Ferguson, Nina Rakete, Rhiannah Knopp, Aria McFelin and Jess Stumbles:
More great news for Rhiannah and Daisy with selection for the South Island Wider Squad!
Football
Well done to Yui Ishikawa, Maia Scott, Madison Glossop, and Nerida Gawn for their selection to the Southern United Football Teams:
Table Tennis
Abby Newell and Georgia Te Raki took part in a Southern Region Training camp with 51 players from all over the South Island. This was an intense camp with five (2 hour) sessions run over one and a half days. After that they competed in the Otago Open against a very strong field of players, from all over New Zealand. Abby and Georgia played tactically to place second in the under 15 girls doubles. Georgia also placed second with her Otago partner from King's in the U15 mixed doubles. Abby and Georgia are now training hard for the Nationals which are held in Auckland in the next school holidays. We wish them every success.
Netball
Queen's Junior A team recently competed at the SISS Netball Tournament in Christchurch. The team ended up in the top 8 for the final day. Results: Quarterfinal v St Kevin's 27-30 (loss). Semi-final v St Peter's 17-14 (win). Playing for 5th and 6th v Rolleston 29-27 (loss). Final placing 6th out of 32 teams. Well done to the girls for a great team effort. Thank you to Jessica Gill (Coach) Nikki Stumbles (Coach) Georgina Beck (Manager) Sharon Stumbles, Ernie Mather (Umpire) for looking after the girls and making it happen.
