The talent of Queen’s girls and the wider community have been showcased in a number of events held over the last two weeks. Queens’ groups were once again impressive in the Otago Polyfest with a vibrant performance from the Queens of the Pacific and a polished presentation from He Waka Kōtuia. We are indebted to the tutors of these groups who give up much of their time to allow our girls to participate in these activities. I wish to thank Serena Evile and Meleana Veikoso, two of our Year 13 students, for their input and support of the Queens of the Pacific. The Showcase of Dance featured our aerobics, dance and cultural groups as well as groups from our local community. It was a fantastic evening and the works presented by the senior dance students were exceptional in both their concepts and their delivery.

Senior students will be emailed their final report next week. This will look different to past reports as the focus of this report is on their NCEA achievement. There is an opportunity in the first week of next term for you to meet with your daughter’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns. With only four full weeks of classes left,  the emphasis for senior students is on their academic work.  Students need to talk with their teachers about what they should be focusing on and take full advantage of the tutorials on offer.

The celebrations of students’ success for 2019 will start with the Sport and Cultural Awards night on Wednesday 23rd October.  Senior Academic Prize-giving is on Monday 4th November. These events are being held in the Queen’s and King’s Performing Arts Centre. Junior Prize-giving will be in the Queen’s hall, on the morning of Thursday 5th December.
