Our Senior Academic prize giving last Monday evening was a wonderful celebration of student achievement, contribution and talent. Congratulations to Chloe Robertson, the Queen’s High School Dux for 2019, and to Sahara Hurley, as Proxime Accessit (runner up to Dux). We acknowledged 22 Year 13 students and one Year 12 student who have gained a variety of scholarships for Tertiary study in 2020. This is the highest number awarded to students at Queen’s in any one year and my congratulations to you all on the hard work and commitment to your study that was necessary for you to achieve these.

Kali Mercier, a student at Queen’s in the early 90’s was our guest speaker. She shared her many varied and interesting experiences since leaving school along with the message to make the most of opportunities that present themselves to you, to learn from them and to be open to changing the direction in which you are heading.

Head girl Scarlett Rogers told us all that living a balanced and happy life is what is important. She said that it is ok to not always be right, to not know the answer and to not always have a plan. She also shared some of her special memories of her time at Queen’s.

To Sophie Palmer and Maisy Costa, our head girl and deputy head girl for 2020, congratulations on your leadership positions for next year and we all look forward to what you will bring to the school in these roles.

I would like to once again acknowledge our Year 13 students for their leadership and contribution to Queen’s. You are amazing young women, and we look forward to seeing where the next stage of your journey will take you.
