Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees have had two meetings this year – our first was in January to discuss the schools Strategic Plan and our way forward for the year. Our second meeting was in early March, but was technically our February meeting and the first official Board meeting of the year, where we re-elected Board positions; these can be found on the Queen's High School Website.
In 2019 the Board of Trustees made the decision to use SchoolDocs as a way of managing all our policies and procedures, what this means for you as a parent is that you can access all our policies and procedures from home, and periodically throughout the year you may receive notifications asking for your feedback. If you do get asked it would be great if you could take a few minutes to give us your feedback as it all helps shape how we want to be as a school.
The last few years has seen the Board make investments in the School in the form of the renovation of the School Hall, Classrooms and other property initiatives that we don’t always see such as the school roof and gym floor. These property upgrades within the School will continue through 2021 which all helps create a fantastic learning environment for our students, with hopefully not too much disruption as we go through it.
The Education Review Office (ERO) is a part of government that monitors and reviews Schools across the country, and to allow them to do this they visit different schools every 3-4 years. This year ERO are implementing a new method of reviewing Schools and Queen's is lucky enough to be one of the first Schools under the new system. Queen's has been given an ERO evaluation partner who will be working with the Management Team and Board members to conduct an ongoing evaluation of the School through a partnership model throughout 2021. Although this is a more collaborative approach, be rest assured ERO’s accountability function has not changed, just the way they work with the approach being based on school improvement to ensure that all learners in our education system are successful. We are looking forward to having the ERO team visit our school this year and gain good feedback.
Finally, with the Covid 19 situation changing all the time the Board continue to be in close contact with the management of the school to ensure that we all make the right decisions for our Staff, Students and Whānau.
