Kia ora koutou katoa

Thank you to the students (pictured above) who attended the Anzac Day Dawn Service during the holiday break and laid a wreath on our behalf.  These students marched alongside students from other Dunedin schools in remembrance of those who served and gave their lives in past conflicts.

He kōtuinga mahi iti, he hua pai-ā-rau – Small ripples create big waves.

This whakatauki is saying that if individuals speak up and say something, together this can change everything. This is the message for Bullying-Free NZ Week which is on 16-20 May. When the whole school community, students, staff and whānau, work together to address bullying, positive, ongoing change happens. On Friday 20 May we will be taking part in Pink Shirt Day. To be part of Te Rā Kahu Kāika Day – Home Clothes Day – students can either donate $2 or bring the equivalent in cans. The cans will be donated to our local food bank.

I would also like to remind everyone that reporting information can be accessed through the Parent Portal at any time. Some subject comments and results may have been updated and added to already this term and I suggest checking online every 2-3 weeks for any updates on your daughter’s progress. As always, you are welcome to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

I would like to say a big thank you to our Parent Student Teacher Association (PSTA). At the recent AGM the President reported on the $28,400 that has been contributed to purchase equipment and for the running of events within the school. As a school we are grateful for the significant financial contribution made by the PSTA as this money raised goes directly to providing additional resources and opportunities for our girls. I thank you in advance, for any contribution you make to the PSTA, through a donation or through supporting one of their fundraisers.

This term we have many events and activities happening and I will be reminding students that being in one of these teams or groups comes with responsibilities. That you show respect for your teammates, for your coach, for your manager, for our school by; being on time, always give your best, play fair, be gracious winners and equally gracious in defeat and you support your team members to do the same. I look forward to seeing as many of our girls as possible in their chosen activity over the next term.

Ngā mihi
