On 31 January 2024, the Minister of Health, Dr Shane Reti, announced that Te Whatu Ora will continue to provide free RATs to healthcare providers and the public through the established national network of distribution providers until 30 June 2024: Additional supplies of free Rapid Antigen Tests until June | Beehive.govt.nz.

From 1 March, members of the public need to collect RATs themselves from participating pharmacies and non-health organisations will no longer be able to order bulk supplies of RATs.
