Wellington Business and History Trip 2023

Executive Secretary - Sharon —

On Thursday 15 June the Year 12 and 13 Business Studies and History students travelled to Wellington for three days.  After three delays, a flight cancellation, and a bus trip to Queenstown, the teachers and student finally arrived in Wellington. We arrived in time for dinner that night, however, sadly missed a few of our activities that day. The next day was full of activities - we split up and the Business Studies students went to MBIE, TradeMe, Sharesies, NZTE, and MFAT, while the History students went to the Holocaust Centre and synagogue, as well as Parliament. This was followed by a dinner at an Indian Restaurant - somewhere brave enough to take the group of 57 of us! We then went and played mini golf at a brand new indoor facility called WellyPutt.

The next morning we went to He Tohu to see the Treaty of Waitangi, Declaration of Independence, and Women's Suffrage Petition. This was an amazing experience for all of the students.  After this we went to Te Papa to see the Scale of War exhibition. For anyone who has seen this before it was of course an incredibly moving experience. Finally we got a bit of shopping time in before catching our bus to the airport and travelling home. It was a big few days and everyone was very tired at the end, but we had some great experiences. A highlight for the Business Studies students was going down the slide at TradeMe and for the History students was meeting the Tibetan President who is currently in Exile.
