Kia Ora Queen’s girls and whānau

The 2020 school year is off to a flying start, with classes and extracurricular activities well underway.

Congratulations to our girls who received Academic Blues awards for their efforts in 2019. This immense accomplishment comes only with hard work and determination, and is motivation for all of us to do our best academically in 2020. It was so great to also see the whānau of these girls supporting them at the assembly and joining us in celebrating their achievements. We had the privilege of hearing the first prefect speech of the year at this same assembly. Katie Hawkins, our academic prefect, shared some inspiring words about putting effort into our academic studies to reap the rewards. We’re looking forward to hearing from the rest of our prefect team over the course of the year.

Well done also on an awesome athletics day last Monday. We had some amazing chants, teamwork, and sportsmanship from all of the houses. Congratulations to those who participated in both the novelty and competitive events to score points for your houses, and also to those who are already preparing for their next events.

The year ahead will be one of new adventures, challenges, connections, and achievements, and we both feel so privileged to have a hand in making that happen as head girls. We can’t wait to see what Queen’s girls will do with 2020.

Ngā Mihi,

Sophie and Maisy
