Shakespeare festival

Ocean Manutilula —

Last term senior drama students competed in the annual Shakespeare festival with both acts making it through to the finals.

Senior students from Year 11 and 13 competed in the Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival over at King's High School. There was a 15 minute scene from the Year 13's from the play ‘As you like it’, directed by Ms Geissler and a 5 minute scene from the Year 11's from ‘Macbeth’, directed by Christina Boyd.

It was a full on day, with performances right after the other from high schools all around Dunedin.

Luckily enough, both of our teams made it into the finals which took place later that night. We all raised our performances and energy greatly, in the end we were all really proud of how we did and finished with high spirits.

I would 100% recommend this festival to fellow dramatists at Queen's. As it’s my last year I’m sad I won’t be able to participate again, but I wish all the luck to further students participating and to break a leg!

The Year 13 15 minute "As you like it" scene placings:

Best use of Music - Winner

Individual Performance (Ocean Manutulila) - Runner up

Best 15 minute scene - Overall Runner up
