Board of Trustees Update

Executive Secretary - Jo —

As we approach the end of Term 1, it is timely to give you all an update on the Board of Trustee’s activity for the term. We started the year by re-confirming each of our Board members responsibilities on the Board, this year is an election year which would normally take place in May, however this year the Ministry of Education have moved this out to September, so the current Board will stay in place until then. We also welcomed Megan Potiki onto the Board as the Runaka Representative, previously that had been Michelle McDonald, we would like to thank Michelle for her contribution over the years she has been part of the Board.

Late last year the Board commissioned the development of a Cultural Narrative. This document is almost complete and we are looking forward to sharing it with the school community. We see this as a great learning tool for staff, students and our wider community.

We have continued to review our policies, this term it mainly related to Health & Safety.  There will be another set of policies to review next term and we encourage everyone to review these if they are asked.

We are excited to have the upgrade of the Humanities Wing - rooms A5 to A8 - signed off and ready to start early in Term 2. This redevelopment includes work outside the classrooms which will make this space much more user friendly.  This upgrade will take approximately 5 months.

Finally, we would also like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff and students for everything they are doing in keeping our school community safe as we navigate through the pandemic. We appreciate it is not easy, but it is great to know that we are doing everything we can to ensure that all our students still have a good learning environment.

Jude Molyneux

Presiding Member, Board of Trustees.
