Science Wānanga

Jade Taani, Mahinarangi Kahukura, Mihiata Wesley-Evans (Year 9) —

A couple of weeks ago, Junior Queen's students were invited to take part in a Science Wānanga at Puketeraki Marae.

The trip was a lot of fun and we got to socialise with other schools including, Te Kura Kaupapa Māori Otepoti and Dunedin North Intermediate. We did many cool activities such as Waka Ama and learnt about the water systems in Dunedin estuaries with the Marine Centre. We also got to make Pōhā which are seaweed pouches and bouncy balls out of the seaweed. These turned out really nice and it was great to be able to take something home to show.

Overall, the wānanga was super fun, the food was great and it was an enjoyable experience to take part in. Thanks to everyone involved!
